Hello Meghan,
It was so nice to hear a response from you and so quickly. I can get to a computer today as well. I applied for a scholarship this year at Alternatives, but they gave scholarships to other people. I also applied for a workshop, but I don't know the outcome ot that yet. But maybe you are one of the lucky ones to go and learn and share.
Have any wonderful things happened in your life this past year? Have you been able to develop friendships with anyone you met at Alternatives? Have you been able to go to any other conferences? Think how your life has blossemed in the past 10-15 years. Advocacy is a growthful thing. Best of luck in your encouragement of others in recovery. Take care, Ms. Sam

It would be nice to hear how your life has changed in this past year, and what going to Alternatives has ment to you. Take care, Ms. Sam

Meghan -- I'm so happy we connected and felt equally frustrated at the lack of time for more full dialog. I sense that we will make the opportunity going forward. Thanks again for your wonderful workshop (I heard very good feedback) and for making the long trek. We'll stay in touch and see if we can connect in person sooner rather than later. PS: your exchange with Basia has been most thought-provoking. I have many thoughts on that...especially in regards to "truth," context, and experience, and growth (transformation??).

Your heart communicates compassion and gentleness. The image of the flower that you post is perfect! Best wishes today.

This is exchange is exquisite. We are talking about the same thing...core (where I might say God, Source) where love abounds. Thanks again.

Hi Meghan, I have heard about Gladys Agell but I don't believe that I have met her. Your work with her sounds deep and transforming. In response to your questions about 'truth' I have to say that in therapy 'truth' is an evolving thing. If we waited for an absolute like 'truth' or clarity to come to us, we humans would wait a long time. Our lives would not be in flow but on the sidelines waiting or reacting quickly when we think we have it before we recognize that we actually don't.

Personally, as an artist I am not bound by finding 'truth' or expressing it for that matter. For example, when I am angry I can rage on a piece of paper or make a collage of selected images that powerfully express the feeling contained in my heart at the time that I felt (blah, blah, blah). Later on, or the next day, the feelings are not so intense. The collage I might be able to share with someone knowing that all of my outpouring will not be accessible to the viewer, whereas, the writing I probably will not share.

The 'truth'' in all that was expressed? It is there but it changes. The image can hold a lot more ambiguity than the words.

Thanks for the opportunity to think about 'truth', Meghan.

I think that the Gund bear is very appealing myself.......I like the nose......and the paws........

Yes , penguins are very cool, literally and figuratively speaking......

I am going back to bed , too. I am 'done in' from the trip home from the conference yesterday......it is 6 am here -too early to get up today and I have the day of work.
Have a fine day!

I've put up a Gund Slacker bear, which isn't my favorite, but it matches what a lot of people who don't know me that well probably think and there are lots of bears out there...

i also like penguins, so the avatar may change over time...

gotta go back to bed to rest up for another big day today...
i might be voted off the island today... ;-}

Hi Meghan, thank you for your comments.

I took a look at your website. Your artwork is very potent and moving. My intention is to post some of the writing I have done regarding art therapy and more specifically the use of video in art therapy for the treatment of grief, loss and trauma.

I hope that you check back and that we have cause to correspond.
