TrainingForums.org, an educational Web-based training site developed for domestic violence service providers, launched nation-wide on January 6th, with the release of its first of three online courses – Trauma and Trauma-Informed Services. The site also features 12 topic-specific discussion forums, initiated by service provider participants and hosted by leading experts across the country.

The first forum topic, Trauma-Informed Environments for the Domestic Violence Survivor -Focus on Shelters, is being hosted by Diana Christen. Diana is the Executive Director of the Family Life Center, a Certified Domestic/Sexual Violence Center and Emergency Shelter in Bunnell, Florida.

Please login to http://trainingforums.org, signup and join the discussion. Diana Christen will be responding to questions and comments during the first few weeks. Feel free to tap her knowledge and become part of the collective discussion.

Developed by the Department of Justice, Office on Violence Against Women and Witness Justice, in collaboration with experts including MetaMedia International Training, Inc. and the New York State Coalition Against Domestic Violence, TrainingForums.org offers expert information and advice to service providers that are faced with difficult situations and have questions regarding their work with survivors of domestic violence. The intention with this site is to create more efficient, cost-effective (the courses are free), and trauma-sensitive services for victims while enlightening service providers.
